Joquetta
I would have laughed in someone’s face if he/she asked me one month before boot camp to run a quarter of a mile, sprint up a steep hill, do men push-ups, stop eating chocolate sweets 3 or 4 times a week, stop eating at fast food restaurants almost every night for dinner, or stop consuming mix drinks. Now, I am laughing proudly because I have accomplished all of these tasks and more thanks to YARDIE FITNESS. Yardie boot camp was the most physical and mental challenge I have ever encountered. During the second week, I thought I was not going to make it up to the sixth week. I constantly asked myself, “Why do I have to do all of this, Why is D being so hard on me, Does he know that he is killing all of us with these crazy workouts, and Why am I still doing this? Well, I looked at a picture I took at a party about a month before boot camp and realized that I hated how I looked and felt about myself. I didn’t want to go back to getting depressed when I shop for clothes, crying when I look at my naked body wondering how the hell I got this way, isolating myself from my friends and family, and just not being happy with me. When I finally figured out that I wanted to be happy with all of Joquetta was when my motivation to continue this program became stronger.
Continuing to maintain intrinsic motivation was difficult to do on my own, but thankfully I received a lot of extrinsic motivation from the entire Yardie boot camp group. It was also motivating when people observed me losing weight and telling me that I was a great inspiration. I have watched people at my job start drinking 64 oz of water a day, join a gym and go two or three days a week and come tell me about their workout. It felt good to help myself as well as help others begin in the preparation and action stage of living a health life. Now, during this time I was inspiring people and staying motivated, my body was going through a lot of soreness and pain (especially with my calves). My name was called a lot by D when I was not giving my 100%, there were days when the group had to suffer with additional exercises due to my slowness in completing an exercise, and there were days when D had me do extra exercises due to my bad attitude. The days when I had to do anything extra really made me mad, and I was cursing him out in my head. There were days I really tried to not respond to him saying, “Joquetta if you don’t do this, I’m gonna………” which meant I was going to do extra work or the group will have to do extra work. It was hard keeping my comments to myself or even my complaints. Actually, I think I got better towards the very end with the complaints; well at least I got better by not verbalizing the complaints. However, I can say I lost 17 lbs as of this day, and it was all worth it. The Yardie group thought it was funny how D and I argued, but he is the reason I have lost the weight. I did like to have my way or just be hard-headed, but he continued to believe in me and push me when I knew it was times he wanted to just give up on me. So, THANKS D! Indeed, this boot camp was intense and a life changing experience that helped me reach my goals. The trainer was very knowledgeable about losing weight, maintaining weight, toning, and creative with the workout. The nutritionist was great and knowledgeable with helping the group make better food choices, giving us useful nutritional information to read, and helping us shop at Whole Foods and Farmer’s Market for nutritional foods. If anyone is mentally ready to make that next step to improving their body and health, Yardie Fitness is the program that will most definitely help a person achieve his/her goals. |
